Simply Grateful

Thanksgiving and Jonah: it may seem like an unlikely pair. With that said, Jonah has a lot to teach us about gratitude. We often express more gratitude for the material comforts that God gives us than the relationships he has also given us. This Thanksgiving, remember to thank God for ALL the people who have been placed in your path.

Devotional: People Drive Us Crazy

Psalm 100:5

For the Lord is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation.

Holy Sovereign, you have offered grace in abundance without merit or cost, and you call your people to be known for their love. As you are revealed in the praises of your people, the world will see your kingdom of mercy. Freely I have received—bless me with opportunities to freely give. Amen.

Holy Redeemer, you are all and everything. You have defeated death, and shame has been destroyed by your grace. I have failed in so many ways, but in your presence, I am called, chosen, and secure in your love. I give you my heart of gratitude so that your mercy will be lived through me. Amen.

Psalm 100:3b

He made us, and we are his. We are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

Seeking Savior, you are present and want to be known. You continue to knock on the doors of hearts unaware of your mercy. Thank you for your patience, the resilience of your grace, and the power of your love in my life. Amen.

Compassionate Parent, you are gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. It is your nature to love, it is your way to forgive, and it is your glory to create beauty from ashes. Lead me to love who you love and praise you by sharing the grace with which I have been so abundantly blessed. Amen.
