A new year is upon us! As we look back at what transpired in 2019 and ahead at the potential of 2020, this Saturday in worship we will consider God’s call to us as his children and how we serve our world. You are always welcome to share, comment, and subscribe!

Monday:  Jesus Must Increase

1 John 5:11

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

El Shaddai (Lord God Almighty), you are Completeness and Perfection; you are the Provider and Sustainer; you are Life Eternal. May your Spirit and your purpose increase in my life. Amen.

Tuesday: Living Intentionally

Psalm 16:5-8

Lord, you alone are my portion and my cup; you make my lot secure. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely, I have a delightful inheritance. I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me. I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

Jehovah Jireh (The Lord Will Provide), you created from nothing and have filled worlds beyond measure with creativity and beauty. Your hands continue to guide, support, and heal. I will trust you to know what I need. Amen.

Wednesday: May You Dream

Joel 2:28-29

I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days.

El Elyon (The Most High God), you see all and you know all. You provide for all good things. There is nothing unexpected that takes you by surprise, but you intentionally delight in the dedicated efforts of your children. May I honor the creative freedom you offer. Amen.

Thursday: Why Resolutions Won't Work

John 4:10

Jesus replied, “If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you living water.”

Jehovah Rapha (The Lord Who Heals You), you energize the defeated and strengthen the weak. You bring healing to the broken and honor to the shamed. You delight in redemption and restoration. Direct and lead me; fulfill the purpose you desire in my life. Amen.

Music: There's Nothing That Our God Can't Do

Friday: The End of the World

1 Peter 1:3-5

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation, and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay. And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see.

Jehovah Tsidkenu (The Lord Our Righteousness), you have had a plan to redeem the world from the beginning of time. You are faithful and sure, and you offered the greatest sacrifice to win back what had been stolen from you. My salvation is secure in you, and I will live without fear—freely sharing the mercy and grace that has been so abundantly given to me. Amen.

Devotional: The End of the World
