The Hospital Church is in the beginning of its annual summer series where various voices from the church community are invited to share about their faith experience. This year’s theme is “God is . . .,” exploring different aspects of who God is from the perspective of the speaker.

Monday: God is . . . Our Hope
But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)
God of Hope, your promise is sure. Your love extends further than any failure could fall. Left on my own, I am powerless, but your grace gives me strength for today. I will live in the confidence of your embrace. Amen.
Tuesday: God is . . . Faithful
Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying.
Faithful God, you are consistent and unfailing. Your timing is perfect, and your love is sure. You desire only my greatest good, and I will rest in you. Amen.
Wednesday: God is . . . Gentle
When God our Savior revealed his kindness and love, he saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.
Gentle God, you are trustworthy. You discern what is unnecessary and harmful, and you bless with what is essential and life-giving. I give you everything I am, knowing the tender hands I entrust myself to will shelter me in peace. Amen.
Thursday: God is . . . Purposeful
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
God of Purpose, you have a plan, and your plan is perfect. You are tireless in your pursuit of restoration, bringing new life and fulfillment to your creation. I will be content in my circumstance, knowing I am reconciled in your grace. Amen.
Friday: God is . . . Sovereign
Lord, there is no one like you! For you are great, and your name is full of power. Who would not fear you, O King of nations? That title belongs to you alone! Among all the wise people of the earth and in all the kingdoms of the world, there is no one like you.
Sovereign God, you alone are holy and perfect. You offer hope of a perfect world to come but also weep with those who weep in this one. I ask for healing of my brokenness, and restoration of my peace. May my soul find solace and my words lift your name. Amen.
